Danielle's Baptism January 27, 2015 - 11:41am
This year at our first service on Pentecost, I was baptized in our pool. I also started 6th grade this year . I was kind of nervous because my new school is a really big school and sometimes it’s scary starting something new.

High Hopes for the Holiday January 19, 2015 - 9:45am

We all have hopes for the Christmas holiday. Full of joy. Memories. Happiness. Above all, we want it to be about Jesus. What we don’t want is stress. Or debt. Or feeling like we “missed the moment.” Advent Conspiracy is a movement designed to help us all slow down and experience a Christmas worth remembering. But doing this means doing things a little differently. A little creatively. It means spending less on material items and giving more to those in need. For our worshiping community, Advent Conspiracy 2014 means worship, connecting and ministry opportunities in the neighborhood.

How an “Evangelism” Dialogue Might Go: Creating Safe Space Everywhere You Are February 16, 2015 - 11:14am

Imagine… Facebook-level friends running into each other at a grocery store…

One of them has a newspaper under their arm. The other one notices.

“Hey! How are you?

Good! Haven’t seen you in forever!

I know! Anything good in the paper? Probably not! Man, there are two things I don’t talk to people about: politics & religion.

Really? Because they’re so contentious?

World AIDS day, every year on December 1, is a day to all aspects of the AIDS pandemic. Over 35 million people have died from AIDS, and over 35 million people live with HIV today. Two million die each year from AIDs, and 270,000 are children (from Wikipedia)

Here is a prayer space (through adding comments below) to honor those who have passed on, to pray for those with the disease, to seek guidance for next steps, or to commit to a way of action.

This is the message I gave this past Sunday based on Psalm 82.

What are you waiting for at the moment?

How have you been waiting?

Talk with God about this.

Who has been with you on your journey this year?

At the high points or the low points?

How have you come alongside and supported someone near to you? Someone in your community? Someone in another part of the world?

In the West we take freedom of movement as something we are entitled to. Imagine how your life would be if you had to line up with your passport everytime you had to get out of your street or how you would feel if you knew someone from the next suburb might be tunneling beneath your house with the intention of violent robbery?

Mary, Joseph, sheepherders, scholars and Herod are all part of the one story but each responds in a different way; each has a different experience of waiting. Who do you most identify with? Why?
